Don Jazzy’s Supremos and Tacha FC treated fans to an action-packed encounter in their Lagos Liga group stage match, with both sides settling for a 2-2 draw at Campos Memorial Stadium on Monday, 9 December 2024.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Supremos took an early initiative with their attacking intent from the opening minutes. Their first breakthrough came through Ahmed Adewuyi, who stunned Tacha’s Titans with a brilliant free-kick that soared past goalkeeper Memud Adeshina. The well-struck set-piece left Adeshina rooted to the spot as Supremos took a 1-0 lead.
Building on their momentum, Supremos doubled their advantage in the ninth minute when Abdulmuiz Raheem capitalised on a short pass from Kachi David at the edge of the box, unleashing a powerful shot that found the back of the net. The swift attacking move left Tacha FC scrambling for a response as they found themselves two goals down within ten minutes.
The Titans refused to be overwhelmed and gradually found their rhythm. In the 12th minute, they carved out their first real opportunity when Onoja Matthew connected with a well-timed pass from Onyeka Destiny. Matthew’s strike forced a fine save from Kelechi Okeke, who parried the ball out for a corner to preserve Supremos’ lead.
The second half saw a drastic shift in momentum, with Tacha FC coming out with renewed intensity. Determined to overturn the deficit, they pressed higher up the pitch and put pressure on the Supremos’ defence.
Their persistence paid off in the 30th minute when Matthew finally found the breakthrough. After an earlier attempt that rattled the crossbar, Prince Nasky turned provider, setting up Matthew, who delicately placed the ball into the far-right corner beyond Okeke’s reach. The goal reignited Tacha FC’s hopes as they closed the gap to 2-1.
Just three minutes later, the match took another dramatic turn when Adio Yusuf was brought down inside the penalty area after a strong run into the box, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Yusuf confidently stepped up and coolly converted the penalty, sending Okeke the wrong way to level the score at 2-2.
Both teams had chances to find a late winner, but resolute defending and crucial saves from both goalkeepers ensured that neither side could claim all three points. The result sees Supremos and Tacha FC share the spoils in an entertaining four-goal thriller, keeping their hopes alive in the competition.
