New talent and NSF buzz fuels Gateway United’s ambitions for NNL success

(ABEOKUTA, Made In Africa Sport) – Following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Giant Brillars, Gateway United’s acting general manager, Niyi Soleye, spoke with the media at MKO Abiola Stadium.

The lone goal came from Wasiu Falolu late in the game, marking Gateway’s first home win this season.

Soleye was asked about the club’s goals for the season, particularly after narrowly escaping relegation last year. He emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes and making significant changes, including recruiting talented players and strengthening the technical crew.

“We have planned well for the 2023/24 Nigeria National League season,” Soleye stated. “We have seen our mistakes from the previous years and have made corrections.”

“We believe that with the new players and technical crew, we will achieve something meaningful this year.”

He further highlighted the unwavering support from the governor and the commissioner of sports development, stating that their backing has been crucial in their pursuit of success.

Soleye also expressed his belief that the upcoming National Sports Festival, hosted by Ogun State in 2024, will have a positive impact on Gateway United.

“All eyes will be on Ogun State during the National Sports Festival, and this includes Gateway United,” Soleye said. “We want to prove ourselves and lead by example. We believe this event will be a positive influence on our team.”
