EKSU Galacticos bows out of 2023 with second trophy
The Ekiti State University football team, EKSU Galacticos cemented their dominance at the Olukayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, by claiming the second Hon. Sunday Ola Football Fiesta crown on Sunday.
A solitary goal from Arogundade Posi in the 18th minute proved enough to subdue Agbana FC, extending the Galacticos’ perfect record at the venue to two finals won this year.
This victory continues a stunning run for the young team. Back in September, they lifted the Crankshaft Anniversary Cup at the same stadium, overcoming the hosts in a penalty shootout after goalkeeper Alabi Favour turned into a brick wall.
2023 has been a year of consistent success for the Galacticos. They secured third place in both the Ekiti FA competition and the 4th Are Football Club tournament, demonstrating their ability to compete at the top level. This latest triumph serves as a golden capstone to a remarkable season.
“This will be our last game of the year,” announced the team on Twitter, celebrating their achievement and hinting at exciting possibilities to come. “We hope to kick start 2024 with the winning mentality still going, aiming for the big competition coming our way,” they teased in another tweet, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next challenge.
