Sani Suleman joins Al-Qadsiah after brief RB Leipzig spell
Nigerian forward Sani Suleman has completed a permanent move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah, ending his brief spell with German club RB Leipzig, Made In Africa Sport reports.
The 20-year-old joined Leipzig from Slovak side AS Trenčín in January 2026 after establishing himself as one of Nigeria’s promising young attacking players.
Suleman arrived in Germany after impressing during his time in Slovakia, having previously developed his game with Akwa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
His move to Leipzig was viewed as another step in a rapid rise that had taken him from Nigerian domestic football to Europe.
However, the forward was unable to make a competitive appearance for the Bundesliga club during his eight-month spell.
Injuries and competition for places restricted the opportunities for the future Super Eagles prospect, leaving him without a senior competitive outing before his departure.
Suleman’s move from Akwa United to Europe
Suleman began his senior career with Akwa United before moving to AS Trenčín, where his performances attracted interest from clubs outside Slovakia.
His progress at Trenčín eventually earned him a move to Leipzig, who handed him a long-term contract running until 2031.
The move to Germany represented an opportunity to develop within one of Europe’s leading football environments, but Suleman’s progress was interrupted by the lack of first-team opportunities.
Rather than remain on the fringes of the Leipzig squad, he has now opted for a move that could provide him with more regular competitive football.
Fresh start in Saudi Arabia
Al-Qadsiah’s move for Suleman gives the Nigerian a fresh chance to rebuild his momentum in a league that continues to attract established players and emerging talent from around the world.
Suleman’s immediate challenge will be to translate the potential he showed in Nigeria and Slovakia into consistent performances in Saudi Arabia.
The move also adds another chapter to the career of a player who has already experienced three different footballing environments before turning 21.
At 20, he still has considerable time to establish himself at the highest level.
His next task will be to turn the opportunity at Al-Qadsiah into the regular first-team football that eluded him during his short spell in Germany.
