NPFL 2026/27 season brings 20 clubs to stadiums across Nigeria
The 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season will bring top-flight football to 20 clubs and their home stadiums across Nigeria as the new campaign gets underway.
The new season will give supporters across the country another opportunity to watch domestic football in their cities, with clubs from different regions competing for the league title and continental places.
The 20 clubs and their respective home stadiums are:
Abia Warriors — Umuahia Township Stadium, Umuahia, Abia State
Barau FC — Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Kano State
Bendel Insurance — Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State
Doma United — Pantami Stadium, Gombe, Gombe State
Enyimba — Enyimba Stadium, Aba, Abia State
Ikorodu City — Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, Lagos State
Inter Lagos — Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, Lagos State
Kano Pillars — Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Kano State
Katsina United — Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, Katsina State
Kun Khalifat — Enyimba Stadium, Aba, Abia State
Kwara United — Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, Kwara State
Nasarawa United — Lafia City Stadium, Lafia, Nasarawa State
Niger Tornadoes — Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna, Niger State
Plateau United — New Jos Stadium, Jos, Plateau State
Ranchers Bees — Kaduna Township Stadium, Kaduna, Kaduna State
Rangers International — Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Enugu State
Rivers United — Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State
Shooting Stars — Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State
Sporting Lagos — Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, Lagos State
Warri Wolves — Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, Delta State
The distribution of the clubs means the NPFL will continue to connect with supporters across different parts of Nigeria, from the South-South and South-West to the South-East, North-Central and northern regions.
Lagos has three representatives in the competition, with Ikorodu City, Inter Lagos and Sporting Lagos using the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as their home ground.
Kano also has two clubs sharing the Sani Abacha Stadium, with Barau FC and Kano Pillars based at the venue. Aba will similarly host Enyimba and Kun Khalifat at the Enyimba Stadium.
The presence of four newly promoted clubs will add another dimension to the campaign. Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United and Ranchers Bees have all earned their places in the top flight and will be looking to establish themselves against some of the country’s more experienced NPFL sides.
For the returning clubs, the new season provides another opportunity to compete for the league title, continental qualification and other honours.
The stadiums will also remain an important part of the NPFL experience.
Beyond hosting matches, they provide the meeting point between clubs and their supporters, with home advantage often playing an important role in Nigerian domestic football.
The new campaign will therefore not only be about the teams on the pitch but also about the supporters who travel to stadiums across the country to back their clubs.
As the 2026/27 season begins, Nigerian football will once again move from city to city, with 20 clubs representing different communities and competing for success in the country’s top division.
For supporters, the question is no longer whether their club will be playing at home, but which NPFL stadium they will visit first this season.
