Reacting to the win in his post-match interview, the manager of Doma United, Akinade Onigbinde, expressed delight that his team won the game and stated that the result would help the team, which currently sits 15th on the league table with two games in hand, prepare and win future matches. He said, “I am very excited. It is a very good one. We planned, we worked for it, and we succeeded. The boys knew that we were down and that we needed the three points, and today we got the three points and goals. Now, we have come up a little bit on the table.”
Also reacting to the win, Emmanuel Jesam, who opened his goal account in the NPFL with a brace, expressed that the feeling is sweet and encouraging to him. He said, “I feel very happy. I am so impressed, and it is not by my power; it is God’s doing, and we thank God for that. We are full of joy because it was not easy.” Jesam added that the win would spur him to do more in pushing the team forward.
Malam Alhassan Yahya, a sports analyst, disclosed that the defeat of Gombe United at the hands of their neighboring team, Doma United, is a reminder that in football, anything can happen. “The game was very interesting and could be a reference point for the organizers of the league to further improve the competition. Yes, the three points were claimed by Doma United, and it is a win or loss for both teams but a win for the people of Gombe state, so, we are all celebrating,” Alhassan said.
