Match Preview: Plateau United eyes Millionaires’ scalp on home turf

Fresh off the back of a narrow loss in the opening match away to Shooting Stars in Ibadan last weekend, Plateau United will hope to get off the mark in the new season at home to newly promoted Heartland FC at the New Jos stadium in Plateau.

The Peace Boys as they are fondly called by their teeming supporters are hopping to surpass their last season’s record of narrowly missing out on a continental place and have undergone massive overhauling of both the management and the technical crew that led to the appointment of Habila Hosea Mutia as the new Genera manager and Mbawas Mangut as the head coach replacing Fidelis Illechukwu.

The Naze Millionaires, on the other hand, are making the trip to the coal city after a 2all draw at home against Lobi Stars in the opening match of the season after spending a year in the NNL.

The last time the both sides met in the 2021/2022 season before the relegation of the Naze millionaire to the Nigeria National League saw Plateau United win convincingly at home by three-nil in Jos, while Heartland edged past the peace boy by one-nil in the return leg in Owerri.

The last five meetings have seen both side record two win each and a barren draw, with Plateau United scoring six goals against Heartland two.

With the acquisition of the likes of Samuel Kalu, Barnabas Daniel, Daniel Onovo, and others, Plataue United with homeboy Mbawas Mangut as the Coach will look to start the journey of surpassing its last season’s record against the Naze Millionaire who also hopes to maintain her league status.
