FIFA opens World Cup media rights tenders for Sub-Saharan Africa
FIFA has announced the opening of two separate tender processes for the media rights to the FIFA World Cup 2026 and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Sub-Saharan Africa.
According to a statement released by the football governing body, the tenders are open to entities interested in acquiring the rights to broadcast and distribute the tournaments in the region.
FIFA World Cup 2026
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be an historic event, with a record 104 matches and double the number of knock-out stage matches.
The tournament will be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the US, and with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) guaranteed nine representatives, African teams are poised to make their mark on the world stage.
FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027
The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 is also set to be an exciting event, with the tournament expanding to feature 32 teams in the group stage. The host(s) of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 will be decided in May 2024, and with African teams making their mark on the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, there is no doubt that African nations will continue to have strong representation at the tournament.
Bid Submission Deadline
