EXCLUSIVE: Edo Queens Sheroes Cup win just the beginning, says Aduku
Fresh from their 1-0 victory against Naija Ratels in Abuja on Friday, October 13, 2023, to secure the Sixth edition of the Sheroes Cup, Edo Queens’ Coach Moses Aduku has reiterated his team’s determination to triumph in this season’s Nigeria Women’s Football League Competition.
Coach Aduku, who previously clinched the trophy with his former team, Bayelsa Queens, emphasized that Edo Queens would ensure this season’s success by taking it one game at a time.
“We’re determined to make sure this season doesn’t pass us by, but we’re going to approach it one game at a time.”
He shared these thoughts during an exclusive interview with Made In Africa Sport following their lone-goal victory over the host team, Naija Ratels, to reclaim the trophy.
It’s worth recalling that Edo Queens were the inaugural winners of the competition, previously known as the “Flying Officers Cup,” in 2019.

When questioned about the preseason competition’s quality, Coach Aduku asserted that the standard of the competition was impressive as it provided participating teams with an opportunity to assess their squads before the league’s commencement.
“The competition’s standard is quite high, offering participating teams a chance to evaluate our squads before the league starts.”
He added, “On November 15th, we’ll face Robo Queens. It won’t be an easy match because we were in the same group last season. They’re a strong side, so we must treat every game as a cup final.”
Coach Aduku also expressed his gratitude to the competition organizers for affording his team the opportunity to showcase their skills and prepare for the upcoming football season.
Edo Queens will commence their NWFL season against Robo Queens of Lagos at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on November 15, 2023.
