D’Tigress World Cup ends in disappointment after heavy France defeat

D’Tigress 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign came to a painful conclusion in Berlin as Nigeria suffered a heavy 111-56 defeat to France in their final Group B game.

France established control from the opening quarter, putting D’Tigress under pressure and creating an early advantage. Nigeria found it difficult to keep pace with France’s scoring, and the gap began to grow as the first period progressed.

The second quarter saw France pull further away. Nigeria struggled to generate enough points consistently, while France continued to find ways to score. By half-time, France had built a 65-26 lead, leaving D’Tigress with a huge deficit to overcome.

After the break, Nigeria tried to respond, but France maintained its intensity. The French side continued to add to its advantage, while D’Tigress could not produce the scoring run needed to change the direction of the game.

The final quarter followed the same pattern, with France comfortably protecting its lead and eventually finishing with a 111-56 victory. The result meant D’Tigress ended their World Cup campaign without a win.

The team had already lost to South Korea and Hungary, meaning the meeting with France was effectively about finishing the competition with some pride rather than keeping their knockout hopes alive.
