Paris 2024: CAF Women’s qualifiers gets underway

The path to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics African qualifiers for the women’s division officially commences this week, promising some thrilling clashes.

After Morocco, Egypt, and Mali secured the first three African spots in the men’s qualifiers at the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, attention now shifts to the women’s division.

The excitement begins with the first legs taking place between 12 July and 18 July, with 25 nations vying for two spots in the women’s division.

The opening match sees Burkina Faso welcoming Mali to the Stade de l’amitie General Mathieu Kerekou on Wednesday, 12 July, at 15h30 GMT.

Other notable matchups include Guinea Bissau facing Benin at Estadio 24 Setembro on 14 July, and Ghana taking on Guinea in Conakry on the same day.

On 17 July, Ethiopia hosts Chad at the Abebe Bekila Stadium in Addis Ababa, while Rwanda welcomes Uganda to the Kigali Pele Stadium, and Equatorial Guinea faces Namibia at the Malabo Stadium, both on 18 July.

Cote D’Ivoire, Tanzania, and Congo DR secure automatic qualification to the next round due to the cancellation of their opponents – Sierra Leone for Cote D’Ivoire, Congo for Tanzania, and Mozambique for Congo DR.
