LASU rebounds from accreditation woes, beat UGLC to reach FASU 2024 basketball finals

(LAGOS) – Lagos State University (LASU) shook off recent accreditation issues at the ongoing FASU 2024 games to secure a convincing 81-67 victory over UGLC SC at UNILAG Sport Centre on Friday, 27 September 2024.

LASU’s players, previously distraught over accreditation woes that threatened their participation, rediscovered their form.

The team’s cohesion and determination proved too much for UGLC SC as they knocked the Guinea team out of the 11th FASU Games.

LASU’s Segun George praised his team’s resilience: “Accreditation issues affected our morale, but we’ve resolved them. We, the players, showed tremendous character today.”

When asked how he balances school and basketball, he said, “As a student of Human Kinetics, it is quite easy for me to balance the two since Human Kinetics is a sport-related course.”

UGLC SC’s point guard, Haruna, when asked how he felt about the game, said: “We played well. We are not happy we lost, but we will focus and do better at the University Games.”

When asked how he balances school and basketball, he said, “Our motto is study, study, study before basketball and practice. There is a schedule for both, so it is very easy to combine them.”

LASU’s accreditation issues have been resolved, and the university has met all requirements, ensuring their continued participation in the competition.

The victory propels the Panthers to the basketball final of the 11th edition of the All African University G Games and will face the winner between UNILAG and Nile University on Saturday, 28 September 2024.
