Nigerian powerhouse Chukwuebuka Enekwechi successfully defended his African Games men’s shot put title at the University of Ghana Stadium today, March 19th, 2024.
Enekwechi, who holds both the National and African Games records, launched a throw of 21.06 meters, proving too strong for the competitors, including his compatriot, Emeka Moses Ugwu
This victory comes after his record-breaking gold medal throw of 21.48 metres at the 2019 Games in Rabat.
Egypt’s Mostafa Amr Hassan and Mohamed Magdi Hamza put up a valiant fight, securing the silver and bronze medals respectively, with throws of 20.70 metres and 20.29 metres.
