Goalkeeping errors cost Katsina United as Rangers snatch late point

Rangers were rescued by a dramatic late equaliser as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Katsina United, with goalkeeping mistakes becoming the headline of the day. For the defending champions, the result showed character, but it also exposed areas that need immediate attention.

Katsina United had looked set to claim all three points after Luis Dadong’s 38th-minute goal which came from a goalkeeping errors gave them the advantage. For Katsina, it was a painful way to surrender the advantage. They had done enough to put themselves in a winning position, only for a moment of lapse in concentration to deny them victory. Rangers, meanwhile, will take plenty of encouragement from their determination to fight until the final whistle.

The draw therefore leaves both teams with contrasting feelings. Katsina will rue the goalkeeping error, while Rangers will celebrate their resilience. But for the champions, the performance reminds them that if they want to defend their NPFL crown and compete strongly on the continental stage, they must cut out costly mistakes.
