Ex International, Michael Nsien set eyes on Super Eagle’s coaching role
Former Nigerian International, Michael Nsien has expressed hopes in being called to manage the male Nigeria national football team – Super Eagles.
Born in Oklahoma to parents of Nigerian background, Nsien says he is hopeful that Nigeria can realize his potential when the coaching role of the Super Eagles becomes vacant.
He recently got appointed as coach of the United States Of America, USA Under 19 team.
Nsien was a member of the Nigeria U23 side that sought qualification for the 2004 Olympic Games staged in Athens, but couldn’t make it.
Speaking on Nigeria Sports Mouthpiece, NSM, one of the country’s vibrant WhatsApp group on Saturday, Nsien expressed that the Super Eagles job is of high profile, hence no reason to open the door for lots of candidates to apply for the job.
“My hope would be that Nigeria realize my potential and if they see me as a fit, they will definitely call me”, he said on NSM.
Nsien played college soccer at the University of Dayton between 1999 and 2003 – scoring nine goals in 73 appearances.
Before drawing the curtain on his career, the former defender represented LA Galaxy, Portland Timbers as well as UAE Pro-League side Al-Shaab.
Since going into administration, the Nigerian-American holds all UEFA’s Pro coaching licenses, with his peers describing him as a trailblazer for black coaches.
