AFCON 2023: CAF announces LONACI as national supporter, lottery partner

Lottery operator LONACI has been named the ‘National Supporter’ of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday, 21 November 2023.

This was announced by CAF in a press release made available to Made In Africa Sport, adding that LONACI has also become the official offline lottery supporter of the show-piece tournament.

About LONACI

LONACI was established in 1970 and has since played a significant role in the economic landscape of Côte d’Ivoire, operating as the national lottery organisation and contributing to various sectors of the country’s development.

One of the primary functions of LONACI is to generate revenue through lottery activities. The funds generated are then utilized to support governmental initiatives and social services. These services encompass a wide range of areas, including education and healthcare. The financial contributions from LONACI play a crucial role in funding schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential public services, thereby contributing to the overall well-being and development of the country.

As an integral part of the national economy, LONACI’s activities extend beyond its role as a lottery operator. The organisation’s commitment to supporting social causes aligns with its broader impact on the community, making it a key player in promoting positive change and development within Côte d’Ivoire.

By becoming a ‘National Supporter’ of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2023 and the official offline lottery supporter of the tournament, LONACI not only demonstrates its engagement in sports sponsorship but also contributes to the promotion of a major sporting event that brings together diverse communities and fosters national pride.

LONACI now joins a growing and influential roster of leading companies in Côte d’Ivoire, across the African continent, and globally, which have recently partnered with the AFCON 2023.

The 34th edition of Africa’s premier sporting event is scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
