The Swiss tactician replaces Mercy Quarcoe Tagoe, who left the role following the country’s failure to qualify for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in July 2022.
Her main task now is to help qualify the Black Queens for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Before then, she will seek to guide the 2018 winners to reclaim the WAFU-B Women’s Cup later this year.
The 34 invited players will be part of the Black Queens’ preparation for two International friendly matches lined up in the FIFA International window for February.
Ghana will play Benin and Togo this month in readiness for the 2023 WAFU B Women’s Cup of Nations and the 2024 African Women’s Cup of Nations.
The Black Queens will take on Benin on Sunday, Feb. 19 before locking horns with Togo on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The two matches will offer Häuptle an opportunity to assess the strength of the team going into the future.
