Orange renews partnership with CAF to foster African football, diversity, and inclusion

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Orange have officially extended their enduring partnership, reaffirming their joint dedication to the development of football, equality, and inclusion in Africa.

Since 2008, Orange has served as the exclusive telecommunications partner for CAF.

In a press release made available to Made In Africa Sport by CAF, the renewed partnership encompasses CAF’s highly anticipated tournaments, including the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024, and the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.

The updated collaboration empowers Orange to concentrate its efforts on delivering connectivity, equality, and inclusivity. At the core of the group’s sponsorship strategy lies Orange’s commitment to leveraging the influential role of sports in connecting customers and fans across Africa and the Middle East. This commitment is evident in three key areas: gender equality, inclusion, and Orange Tous Connectés.

“Orange has been a great supporter and partner of African Football,” says CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe. “We’re excited to continue working together to make African Football amongst the best in the world.”

Jérôme Henique, CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa, echoes the sentiment: “We’re a long-term and loyal partner of football in Africa and the Middle East. We’re proud to host over 40 football partnerships and continue this important work with CAF.”

So, what’s the game plan? The partnership tackles three key areas:

  • 1. Gender Equality: Orange aims for a 50/50 split in their sponsorship portfolio, promoting equal opportunities for all players. They’ve been supporting the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations since 2018, and this commitment continues!
  • 2. Inclusion: Using their Orange Digital Centers, Orange wants to connect and educate young people. They’ll develop programs with CAF to help young players develop digital skills and training, even using football content to teach coding!
  • 3. Orange Tous Connectés: This platform ensures Orange customers stay connected and enjoy the beautiful game. They’ll share the excitement, allowing fans to share and participate in the sport they love.
