2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Iheanacho reassures Nigerians to put hope in Super Eagles

Nigeria and Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has reassured Nigerians to be hopeful and keep supporting the team as they continue their journey to book a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the Crocodiles of Lesotho in their opening group match of the qualifiers on Thursday, 16 November at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Made In Africa Sport reports that the game had the visitors take an early lead in the second half, before Westbrom’s defender, Semi Ajayi equalized off a corner from Kelechi Iheanacho.

Leading the team as a captain, the attacker put to his Instagram handle to tell the fans to be hopeful of a win in their next game against ZImbabwe.

“Huge honour to have captain the boys yesterday, I know this was a game we have to win but we didn’t but got a point from it. Hopefully we will do a lot more in our next game and get the 3points”, he wrote on Instagram.
